Morena (Sundowns) Ahead of AS FAR Clash: "We Know the Bitterness of Losing the Title; This is Our Chance to Win"
Mamelodi Sundowns defender Thapelo Morena affirmed that competing in the CAF Champions League final brings a mix of strong emotions and difficult lessons, particularly after the experience of losing the final last season.
Speaking in an interview with the official CAF website, Morena said: "Honestly, after we lost the final last year, when I went home, it was a very difficult period for me and my family as well. But knowing that they are a real source of support for me, and that I would spend time with them, had a big impact. They tried in every way to support me."
The South African player added: "I think we are now truly living the feeling of playing in the final. It's not like before, when our last time in the final was in 2016. Now the experience is still fresh, and we know very well the bitterness of losing the title when we are so close to it," the Sundowns defender continued.
Morena further emphasized the importance of the current stage, stating: "Therefore, this is our last chance to ensure victory and do our utmost."
Sundowns are preparing to face AS FAR in the first leg of the CAF Champions League final on Sunday, May 17, in Pretoria. The return leg will be held in Rabat on May 24.
