Fadlo (Raja Coach): 'Defeat Against Wydad is Painful, We Must Learn from Our Mistakes'
Raja Club Athletic coach, David Fadlo, stated that the 1-0 loss to Wydad Athletic Club in Week 20 of the Botola Pro Inwi was one of the most painful defeats for his team this season, considering the flow of the match and the performance delivered by the players.
“This is perhaps one of the most painful defeats this season, because we lost focus for just one moment, and Wydad capitalized on that to score,” Fadlo said during the post-match press conference.
He added, “We had warned the players before the match about the danger of set pieces and second balls, but unfortunately, we conceded a goal from a situation we knew very well. We played most of the match in Wydad’s half, but in football, things are sometimes decided by small details.”
The Raja coach pointed out that his team was close to scoring before Wydad’s goal, explaining that his players exerted significant pressure, especially in the second half, but lacked effectiveness in front of goal.
He continued, “After the goal, we played almost entirely in Wydad’s final third and created many chances, but we couldn't score. This match must teach us how to deal better with such encounters.”
Fadlo also expressed his surprise at the referee’s decision not to award his team a penalty, stating, “I believe there was a situation that deserved a penalty, because if the same tackle had occurred anywhere else on the pitch, a foul would have been called.”
He concluded by emphasizing that Raja must use this defeat to develop the team and improve their handling of difficult moments in upcoming matches as they chase the league title.
