El Khatoui: "Anyone Who Saw Our Match Against AS FAR Wouldn't Say We're Last; I Hope They Win the Champions League"
Choukri El Khatoui, coach of Olympique Safi, praised his team's performance against AS FAR in their 1-1 draw during the 19th round of the Botola Pro. He also expressed his wish for the military team to win the CAF Champions League title.
El Khatoui stated in press remarks: "Even with the negative results, we created between three and four chances in the match. In recent games, against any team, if they score two goals, we score three or four, but we are suffering from bad luck."
He continued: "In the first half-hour, and not against just any team, but against one of the best football-playing teams – to be clear, a team present in the CAF Champions League final – we created chances and caused them problems. We were capable of killing the game. To play against AS FAR and create three to four clear scoring opportunities is not an easy feat."
He added: "In our match against AS FAR, anyone who watched the game and didn't know the Botola Pro standings wouldn't say that Olympique Safi occupies the last position. Ultimately, we played against a very respectable team, and we wish them success in winning the CAF Champions League title."
El Khatoui concluded: "We are not happy with securing a draw against AS FAR given our league position. We must stand by these players, as no player or coach likes to lose, and this team deserves a better standing. We played our best matches against Wydad, Raja, RS Berkane, and AS FAR, and we need to learn how to approach all games."
