Fadlu: Playing Without Fans 'A Bit Like Covid Period'; League Now Strong with Five Title Contenders
Raja Casablanca coach Fadlu Davids stated that the empty stands, due to a behind-closed-doors sanction, reminded him of the 'Covid' period. He praised the level of the professional league this season after their victory over Difaâ Hassani El Jadidi in the 18th round of the local league.
Davids told reporters, "Football without fans doesn't feel the same. It was a bit like the 'Covid' period, playing in an empty stadium, but the performance was good, especially in the first half."
He continued, "The league, since I was last here two years ago, has become very strong. There are five teams competing for the title. Any team can defeat any other team, and we should have scored a second or third goal in the first half, even though we were playing very well."
Davids added, "We should have scored the second, third, and even fourth goals. The match becomes difficult. A 1-0 result in the league never means things are over. But I am happy; 14 days and five matches. The other teams like RS Berkane, Wydad, AS FAR, and Maghreb Fez played these five matches in 15 days."
"We are the only team that played them in 14 days, but we are not complaining; we continue to progress. The most important thing now is recovery, and we have a big match against Maghreb Fez," he added.
Regarding the substitution of Ayoub El Amoud, despite him scoring Raja's winning goal, Davids explained, "His role required significant physical effort. He participated in building play as a right-back moving into the center, providing width on the flanks, and eventually transforming into a second striker. Therefore, after 60 minutes, his energy ran out, but he delivered a fantastic performance."
