FIFA Officially Boosts 2026 World Cup Financial Allocations to $871 Million
The FIFA Council has officially decided to increase the financial contributions allocated to national teams participating in the 2026 World Cup. This decision comes ahead of the 76th FIFA Congress, scheduled to be held in Vancouver, Canada, one of the host nations for the tournament, and 44 days before the start of the competitions.
Following the financial success of the tournament, the FIFA Council approved a 15% increase in the resources distributed among the 48 participating national teams, bringing the total to approximately 871 million US dollars.
These funds will be distributed as follows: preparation grants will increase from $1.5 million to $2.5 million per team; qualification grants will increase from $9 million to $10 million; and additional contributions, totaling over $16 million, will cover team delegation expenses and increase the number of tickets allocated to each team.
The distribution of revenues to the wider football community will also continue, benefiting all 211 FIFA member national associations.
In this context, FIFA President Gianni Infantino stated: “FIFA is proud of its current strong financial position, which allows us to support our member national associations in an unprecedented way. This reflects our commitment to reinvesting our resources in the development of football.”
