
Former England International Lennon: 'I Wished I Had the Chance to Develop at an Academy Like Mohammed VI When I Was Young'
Aaron Lennon, former England international and Leeds United star, praised the organization of the International U19 Tournament held at the Mohammed VI Football Academy, as well as the talent he observed during his attendance. He expressed great admiration for the development of football in Morocco and Africa.
In an interview with "Al-Botola", Lennon confirmed that the organization was of a high standard from the moment he arrived. He lauded the quality of the facilities and pitches at the Mohammed VI Football Academy, alongside the warm welcome he received, stating: "Everything was fantastic, everyone was very welcoming, and the standard was very high."
The former England international added that he wished he had a similar opportunity when he was under 19, considering that such tournaments provide young players with an ideal chance to showcase their abilities. He remarked: "When I was a player at that age, I didn't have anything like this, and I wished I could have played in similar conditions."
Lennon noted that he watched a large number of matches, highlighting the strong presence of footballing talents from various parts of the world. He affirmed: "There are very strong and talented players, and the overall standard is very high."
Speaking about Moroccan football, Lennon emphasized that its future appears promising, especially with the continuous emergence of talented players. He added that the African continent, in general, remains a rich reservoir of footballing talent.
