Romanian Federation Appoints 'Legend' Gheorghe Hagi as National Team Coach
Razvan Burleanu, President of the Romanian Football Federation, announced the appointment of former midfielder Gheorghe Hagi as the new coach of the Romanian national team. This marks Hagi's return to lead the team for a second spell, succeeding the late coach Mircea Lucescu.
During a press conference held on Monday, Burleanu confirmed that negotiations were successful, leading to the former star officially taking on the technical role.
The President of the Romanian Football Federation stated, "After several attempts to bring Mr. Hagi to our side and have him lead the national team, we are happy today to announce his confirmation as the national team coach." He clarified that this decision aims to secure the technical path of the national squad.
This is Hagi's second time at the helm of the Romanian national team, following a brief first coaching stint in 2011. His previous playing career included spells at Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona, further enhancing his prominence in the Romanian sports scene.
