Fatal Tigers Refuse to Reveal Tifo Content Ahead of Wydad Clash, Warn of Stand Boycott
Fatal Tigers, the Ultras group supporting Maghreb de Fès (MAS), issued a strongly worded statement ahead of their anticipated match against Wydad AC. The fixture, a rescheduled game from Week 12 of the Professional League, saw the group express its condemnation of restrictions imposed by local authorities.
In their statement, the group affirmed: "We will not accept guardianship or tutelage from any party that grants us approval for any activity within the stands. We will not submit the content of our tifo to any party to obtain permission for its preparation, and we will not tolerate the Ultras being under any guardianship or censorship that dictates what is acceptable or unacceptable in the stands."
Fatal Tigers emphasized that freedom of expression is a constitutional principle guaranteed in Morocco, alongside international conventions. They consider it a universal right that allows individuals to express themselves while respecting national constants.
The statement added that since its inception, the group has adhered to a steadfast principle it will not abandon under any circumstances, considering it preserves the dignity of its members. They reject any form of guardianship or censorship over activities within the stands, especially regarding tifos or fan designs.
The group reiterated its refusal to submit its work to any entity for prior authorization, deeming such a requirement an infringement on its independence and a form of control that dictates what is acceptable or unacceptable in the stands.
They also stated that the stands have become a space threatened by "encroachment and restriction," warning against what they described as attempts to eliminate all social and cultural spaces dedicated to youth. They stressed that an excessive security approach towards Ultras yields counterproductive results.
The group continued its statement by asserting that it only demands its right to practice and express itself within stadiums. They held responsible authorities fully accountable for the current state of the stands, noting that Ultras played a significant role in revitalizing Moroccan football after years of fan disengagement.
The statement concluded with a warning tone, indicating that the continuation of the current situation might compel the group to reconsider its presence in the stands if the adopted approach is not changed.
It is worth noting that Maghreb de Fès will host Wydad AC tomorrow, Sunday, at 6:00 PM.
