Ancelotti: "Neymar Still Has Two Months to Prove World Cup Readiness; I Will Only Call Up Physically Fit Players"
Brazil national team coach Carlo Ancelotti has once again addressed the situation of Neymar Jr. and his potential inclusion in the "Seleção" squad for the 2026 World Cup.
In statements reported by "Foot Mercato," Ancelotti said, "Does talking about Neymar at every press conference bother me? No, it doesn't bother me."
Ancelotti added, "Neymar has made and continues to make history for Brazilian football. He is a great talent, and it's natural for people to believe he can help us win the next World Cup."
He continued, "Currently, his level is being evaluated by the Brazilian Federation and by me. He still has two months to prove he possesses the qualifications to participate in the upcoming World Cup."
The 66-year-old Italian coach added, "He is capable of returning to 100% of his level, and I have said that many times. It is clear to me: I will only call up physically fit players."
Ancelotti further stated, "After his knee injury (last December), Neymar returned well and scored goals, but he needs to continue working and improve his physical readiness. He is on the right track."
It is worth noting that the Brazilian national team is in Group C of the 2026 World Cup, alongside Morocco, Scotland, and Haiti.
