Shocking: Hamza El Moussaoui Banned Two Years for Doping, CAF Source Reveals
The Disciplinary Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), chaired by Senegalese Ousmane Kane, has decided to suspend RS Berkane player Hamza El Moussaoui for two years. The decision follows his involvement in a case related to the consumption of a prohibited substance, after a lengthy hearing held on Wednesday.
An official source from CAF confirmed to the Qatari newspaper "Win Win" that the decision came after the player's sample tested positive. The sample was taken after his team's match against Pyramids FC in the CAF Champions League group stage, with analyses confirming the presence of a substance listed among the prohibited substances for 2026.
The Disciplinary Committee emphasized in its decision that the player did not possess any therapeutic use exemption (TUE) that could justify the presence of the prohibited substance in his body, which further solidified the decision to suspend him for two years.
The information also indicated that El Moussaoui admitted to consuming the doping substance after receiving the analysis results. He waived his right to request the testing of his B sample, accepting the result of the initial sample which confirmed the violation.
The suspension decision prohibits the player from participating in all football competitions and activities organized by the Confederation of African Football or the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), with the exception of approved rehabilitation programs within the framework of anti-doping efforts.
Conversely, the Disciplinary Committee granted the player the right to appeal the decision before the CAF Appeals Committee, a step he may take in the coming period.
