West Ham Considers FIFA Complaint, Compensation Claim Over Wan-Bissaka's Absence Due to Congo Celebrations
West Ham United has expressed anger after their right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka missed the FA Cup quarter-final match against Leeds United.
Press reports confirmed that West Ham is preparing to submit an official complaint and demand financial compensation from FIFA following Wan-Bissaka's absence from the match.
This absence occurred after the Congolese Football Federation retained the player, along with several others, in the country until Monday to participate in presidential celebrations following the national team's World Cup qualification. This action is considered a direct violation of a FIFA rule that mandates players return to their clubs within 48 hours after international matches.
It is worth noting that French club Lille previously faced a similar situation, expressing anger after player Chancel Mbemba was not allowed to rejoin the team before the official celebrations concluded.
