UEFA Reveals Champions League Semi-Final Dates and Potential Path for Paris Saint-Germain
The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) announced the scheduling of the Champions League semi-final matches on Friday, March 27, 2026. This proactive step aims to provide greater clarity to clubs, fans, and all stakeholders, allowing for optimal planning and preparation for the final stages of the continental competition.
The announced schedule included the potential path for Paris Saint-Germain, should they qualify past Liverpool. The French side is set to host the first leg on Tuesday, April 28, against the winner of the clash between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. The return leg is scheduled for Wednesday, May 6, in Spain or Germany, with an eight-day gap between the two matches. It was also noted that the first leg will take place just three days after PSG's Ligue 1 match against Angers.
UEFA clarified that this approach serves the interests of all parties. The European football governing body stated, “To provide more clarity and allow for better planning and preparation for clubs, fans, and all other parties, the Union decided to bring forward the publication date of the Champions League semi-final match schedule.” This move aims to facilitate logistical operations. In this context, Article 527 of the competition regulations is highlighted, which mandates the unification of kick-off times for the last two rounds of domestic leagues to ensure fair play.
In line with these regulatory controls, the French League (LFP) moved the match between Lens and Paris Saint-Germain to May 13, in compliance with Article 528, which stipulates that postponed matches must be played before the final two rounds. This coordination demonstrates the football authorities' commitment to avoiding scheduling conflicts and alleviating the physical burden on clubs continuing their campaigns in European competitions.
