Belgium U21 national team coach, Gill Swerts, confirmed that young player Rayane Bounida has decided to represent the Moroccan national team instead of continuing his international career with Belgium.
Swerts told "Sporza" network: "The federation received a message stating that Rayane has made his decision to choose Morocco. It's a personal decision that only the player himself can make."
"He is a player with a lot of qualities, and I wish him good luck in his career, but we must now move forward with the players we have," the coach added.
Bounida holds both Moroccan and Belgian nationalities, having been born in Vilvoorde. He previously represented Belgium at various youth levels since the U16 category. His last appearance for the "Red Devils" youth team was in November, bringing his total youth international caps to 41.
