Severe Injury Forces Noa Lang's Hospitalization During Galatasaray vs. Liverpool Match
Galatasaray's Dutch winger Noa Lang was urgently rushed to the hospital after sustaining a severe thumb injury during his team's UEFA Champions League Round of 16 match against hosts Liverpool at Anfield. In the 75th minute of the game, the 26-year-old player's hand collided with the advertising hoardings surrounding the pitch, necessitating immediate medical intervention before he was evacuated from the field while receiving oxygen.
Following the match, which ended in a 4-0 defeat for his team, Galatasaray coach Okan Buruk stated that the injury appeared worrying and might require surgical intervention. The coach said, "He is on his way to the hospital due to a major problem he suffered in his finger. Noa has a serious injury and will undergo the necessary examinations as soon as possible." Lang had entered the game as a second-half substitute before stumbling while challenging Curtis Jones behind the goal, leading to his hand becoming trapped in the advertising barriers.
His Dutch national team colleague and Liverpool player, Jeremie Frimpong, expressed his shock at the incident that resulted in Lang's transfer to a nearby hospital. Speaking about the extent of the injury, Frimpong stated, "Some say part of his finger was torn off. He is really in pain." This unfortunate event coincided with the Turkish team's elimination from the continental competition, following a 4-1 aggregate loss to Liverpool over two legs, which secured the Reds' progression to the quarter-finals.
