Milan Aims to Solidify Second Place in Serie A in Tough Lazio Clash at Stadio Olimpico
Lazio host rivals AC Milan at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome today in a highly anticipated clash for Matchday 29 of Serie A. Officiated by Marco Guida, both teams will be looking to secure a positive result in this classic encounter.
With 60 points, Milan currently sit in second place, just one point ahead of third-placed Napoli and eight points behind leaders Inter, with a game in hand. Lazio, meanwhile, are in tenth position in the league table, having accumulated 37 points from 28 matches played so far in the domestic competition.
The home side will be looking to build on their recent victory after a run that saw them draw two and lose two. The visiting team, on the other hand, has secured three wins in their last five matches.
Historically, Milan hold an advantage with 16 victories compared to their opponent's 11 wins and 12 draws. Their last encounter, however, saw the capital club emerge victorious with a clean sheet in December in a cup fixture.
Lazio are expected to line up in a 4-3-3 formation, with a squad that includes goalkeeper Eduardo Mota, defender Adam Marusic, and Mattia Zaccagni. They will be without Ivan Provedel until the end of the season, as well as Alessio Romagnoli, Samuel Gigot, and Danilo Cataldi.
Milan are likely to start the match in a 3-5-2 formation, featuring Mike Maignan, Fikayo Tomori, and Rafael Leão. On the other hand, they will be missing Adrien Rabiot due to suspension, and Matteo Gabbia, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and Santiago Giménez due to injury.
