Italian Court Lifts House Arrest for Inter Milan Fan Involved in Pyrotechnic Incident
An Italian review court in Brescia has overturned the house arrest order imposed on a 19-year-old Inter Milan fan. The fan was implicated in throwing pyrotechnics during the team's match against Cremonese on February 1st, an incident that left goalkeeper Emil Audero stunned. Consequently, the legal measure against the young man has been converted to a mandatory periodic appearance before the judicial police.
The incident dates back to early February when the fan threw a firecracker onto the pitch. He was subsequently placed under house arrest on February 6th, following a request from Public Prosecutor Francesco Caiani and an order from Judge Giulia Marozzi. The court's recent decision came in response to an appeal filed by defense lawyer Mirko Berlino. Meanwhile, Inter Milan was fined €50,000 and received an official warning as a result of the incident.
During his interrogation, the young fan expressed deep remorse for what occurred. He stated, "I apologize to Audero, to both clubs, and to all the fans." He further clarified in his testimony that he threw a regular firecracker, not a paper bomb as had been rumored, emphasizing that he had no intention of injuring the goalkeeper or causing harm to anyone in the stadium. The young man explained that he obtained the pyrotechnics from a friend in Naples last December, without any prior plan to use them in a manner that would endanger those present at the match.
