LA Galaxy Announces Contract Extension for German Marco Reus Until 2027
The Los Angeles Galaxy has announced the extension of German midfielder Marco Reus's contract until December 2027. The American club has secured the veteran 36-year-old player for an additional three years, following his arrival in August 2024 after a distinguished 12-year career with German club Borussia Dortmund.
Reus has delivered outstanding performances since his arrival in the United States, playing a pivotal role in leading the team to its sixth Major League Soccer title at the end of 2024. The German has also made a significant impact, featuring in 42 matches for the Galaxy and contributing to 22 goals, including five goals and nine assists last season alone.
Will Kuntz, General Manager of the LA Galaxy, expressed his pride in Reus's role within the team. Kuntz stated, “Marco provides an incredible level of quality, experience, and leadership to our group, as his professionalism and high standards elevate everyone around him, both on the field and in the locker room.” He further emphasized the club’s excitement for the German star to remain a part of its sporting family for years to come.
The German star has continued to shine early this year, captaining the team in two matches and assisting the club's first goal of the new season last week. This move extends his legendary career, which includes being only the third player in Bundesliga history to score 100 goals and provide 100 assists, having netted 170 goals for Dortmund between 2012 and 2024.
