Lionel Messi's Image Used in Barcelona Election Campaign
Inter Miami's Argentine star Lionel Messi is at the forefront of Barcelona's election campaign, despite his clear declaration from the outset that he does not wish to be involved, even with repeated attempts by candidates to attract him.
Sources close to the Argentine player confirmed to "Marca" newspaper that he has not spoken with any party and does not intend to do so during the election period, noting the existence of certain practices he disapproves of.
Messi was surprised by a banner placed by Marc Ciria on one of Barcelona's buildings, which read, "We look forward to seeing you again." Although the Argentine player's name was not mentioned, nor was his image clearly visible, everyone understood the intended message. This banner was put up without Messi's knowledge.
Ciria also sought to contact Messi, as the Argentine's return is one of the main pillars of his campaign. However, Leo refused to get involved, reiterating his firm stance against participating with any candidate.
Victor Font's campaign saw a similar situation, as the candidate attempted to contact the player's inner circle through Gabriel Masfurrol, but his efforts were unsuccessful. Font stated that his communications took place a long time ago and were never directly with Messi himself.
