The Guardian: Morocco and Spain Frontrunners to Host 2029 Club World Cup; Africa to Have 6 or 7 Representatives
The British newspaper The Guardian reported that Morocco is considered the leading candidate to host the 2029 Club World Cup, alongside Spain, which is also seeking to host the global competition.
The newspaper also indicated the possibility of increasing the number of participants in the Club World Cup from 32 to 48 clubs in the upcoming edition, which would necessitate the host country possessing very significant capabilities.
The same source clarified that UEFA and FIFA are in the process of resolving their differences, and the European party has agreed to increase the number of participants in the Club World Cup to 48 teams, provided the competition is held every four years.
It is worth noting that if the Club World Cup is expanded, the number of African clubs representing the continent in the competition will increase from 4 to 6 or 7, while the number of European representatives will rise from 12 to 16 teams.
