De Paul: "Winning MLS is Harder Than Winning the Champions League"
Inter Miami's Argentine midfielder Rodrigo De Paul has sparked widespread debate with his statements regarding the difficulty of football competitions, comparing winning Major League Soccer (MLS) to winning the UEFA Champions League. He suggested that competition in the United States presents unique challenges requiring a consistent performance throughout the season.
"I think winning the MLS title is harder than winning the Champions League," De Paul stated in comments reported by the Mexican edition of Marca.
He added, "The nature of competition in the United States imposes special challenges on teams. It might seem strange, but the MLS system is extremely difficult; you have to play perfectly all the time."
The Argentine player joined Inter Miami during the 2025 winter transfer window from Atlético Madrid, signing a three-season contract until June 2029. He contributed to securing the team's first-ever league title, scoring two goals and providing four assists in 26 appearances across all competitions.
