Saad El Drib, Vice President of Wydad AC, stated that his team had hoped to face Olympique Safi in the semifinals or final of the CAF Confederation Cup, rather than in the quarterfinal stage.

Speaking to Egyptian channel "On Sport," El Drib said: "The match will be difficult, as it's between two brothers from the same country. We had hoped not to face Safi in the quarterfinals, but rather in the semifinals or final. However, what God wills happens, and this is football."

He added: "The positive aspect is the absence of travel or fatigue, which is an important factor in African competitions. The negative side, however, is that all cards are exposed between the two teams."

The CAF Confederation Cup quarterfinal draw resulted in an all-Moroccan clash between Wydad AC and their compatriots Olympique Safi. The first leg will be played in Safi, with the return leg taking place in Casablanca.
