Injury Ends Lewis Miller's World Cup Hopes
Football Australia has officially announced that defender Lewis Miller will miss the upcoming World Cup. This announcement follows the player sustaining an Achilles tendon injury while playing for his English club, Blackburn.
The 25-year-old underwent surgery to address the injury and is expected to be sidelined for up to nine months. The injury occurred during Blackburn's 3-1 victory over Queens Park Rangers.
Miller expressed his disappointment, stating: “There are simply no words. It's a cruel world we live in. But trust me, I will come back better than before, that's a promise.” Miller was a key player in Australia's qualification campaign, scoring two goals.
Meanwhile, the World Cup is scheduled to kick off in the United States, Canada, and Mexico on June 11.
