FIFA President Granted Lebanese Citizenship
Gianni Infantino, President of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), today obtained Lebanese citizenship after completing the necessary fingerprinting procedures for himself and his family at the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities headquarters.
The ceremony for the procedures was attended by Interior Minister Ahmad Al-Hajjar, President of the Lebanese Football Association Hashem Haidar, and the association's Secretary-General Jihad Al-Shahhaf.
During the meeting, Infantino presented Al-Hajjar with an official FIFA jersey bearing his name, along with a souvenir gift from the federation.
Infantino expressed his affection for Lebanon and his pride in visiting the country, reaffirming his commitment to supporting Lebanese football and strengthening cooperation with the local federation.
It is worth noting that Infantino had visited Lebanon last November, where he met with the President of the Republic and promised at the time to obtain Lebanese citizenship, a pledge that has now been fulfilled.
