Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde has called for the team to improve its performance and not rely on opponent mistakes to score goals. His comments came after a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Rayo Vallecano on Sunday, in Matchday 22 of the Spanish League.

Following the match, Valverde stated: "We came from a tough defeat (against Benfica). No one wants to lose in the Champions League; it's the competition many of us dream of winning. We had to change that image, and today was our first opportunity to make amends. I believe we delivered a great performance."

Criticizing the team's attacking display, he added: "Winning always brings happiness and helps to change the atmosphere. The most important thing is to develop and grow as a team, and try to remain calm. We cannot always wait for the opponent's mistake. We must improve in attack and score more goals."

Valverde continued: "We weren't creating clear chances, but the substitute players came on with great enthusiasm, and we needed that – for everyone to work with a team spirit. The players who entered today played a crucial role in winning the match and changing the course of the game."

It is worth noting that Real Madrid currently sits second in the La Liga standings with 54 points, trailing leaders Barcelona by a single point (55 points).
