Milan Agrees Long-Term New Contract with Maignan
Reports indicate that Italian club AC Milan and their goalkeeper Mike Maignan have reached an agreement on a new long-term contract, extending his stay with the team until the summer of 2031. The previous contract for the France international goalkeeper was set to expire at the end of the 2025-2026 season.
Maignan joined Milan from French club Lille in 2021 in a deal worth €25 million. Since then, the goalkeeper has played 187 matches for the club, keeping 70 clean sheets. Maignan is considered a crucial element in the club's future plans.
Maignan is expected to become one of the highest-paid players in the squad, alongside Rafael Leão, with a significant re-evaluation of his salary. It is understood that the agreement is close to becoming official. In a related context, Massimiliano Allegri previously said: "Maignan allowed us to stay in the game at 1-0" after a 3-1 victory against Como.
Maignan's name had been linked with English club Chelsea last summer, but an agreement on a transfer fee was not reached at the time.
