Bale Reveals Reason for Alonso's Real Madrid Struggles: 'You Need to Be a Manager'
Xabi Alonso concluded his tenure as Real Madrid coach after a disappointing seven-month period, which ended with the team's loss to Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup.
Álvaro Arbeloa has temporarily taken over coaching duties, succeeding Alonso, while the club searches for a permanent coach.
According to reports, Alonso attributed his inability to perform effectively to what he described as the "power of the players" within the club.
In this context, former Real Madrid player Gareth Bale, speaking on TNT Sports (as reported by Marca), offered an explanation for Alonso's struggles. Bale stated, "He's a great coach... But when you get to Real Madrid, you don't need to be a coach, you need to be a manager. You have to manage the egos in the dressing room."
Bale suggested that Alonso focused excessively on tactical aspects rather than managing the star players at the Santiago Bernabéu, despite his remarkable success with Bayer Leverkusen.
