
Marseille Announces Emerson Palmieri's Absence for Liverpool Clash
French club Olympique Marseille announced on Wednesday that their left-back Emerson Palmieri will miss the team's anticipated UEFA Champions League match against English side Liverpool, just hours before kickoff.
The club explained that the 31-year-old player, who joined Marseille last September from West Ham, sustained a left thigh injury during the final training session, an injury confirmed by medical examinations.
In an official statement, Olympique Marseille said: “Olympique Marseille announces that Emerson Palmieri suffered an injury during the last training session. Medical examinations revealed a lesion in his left thigh. The duration of his absence will be assessed based on clinical development, and he will undergo daily monitoring by the club's medical staff. Olympique Marseille offers its full support to Emerson and will do its utmost to help him return to competition in the best possible condition.”
The club did not specify any timeline for the player's return to action. In related news, coach Roberto De Zerbi will see the return of Benjamin Pavard for the match.
