
French Football Legend Lucien Muller Dies at 91
Former French international player Lucien Muller has passed away at the age of 91. Muller is considered one of the most prominent midfielders in the history of French and Spanish football, having left a significant mark on the clubs he represented.
During his illustrious playing career, Muller represented prestigious clubs such as Reims, Strasbourg, Toulouse, Real Madrid, and Barcelona. He won two French League titles with Reims and three Spanish League (La Liga) titles with Real Madrid, where he also reached the European Cup final in 1964. Internationally, he earned 16 caps for the French national team and reached the semi-finals of the European Nations' Cup in 1960.
After retiring as a player, Muller moved into coaching, leading Barcelona during the 1978-1979 season. He also successfully guided Monaco to win the French Cup in 1985.
Reims president Jean-Pierre Caillot commented on the news, stating: “It was with deep emotion that I received the news of the passing of Lucien Muller, a club legend.”
