Chelsea Reinstates Defender Axel Disasi to First Team
French defender Axel Disasi, 27, has returned to Chelsea's first-team training this Tuesday, following a decision by new head coach Liam Rosenior. Disasi had been sidelined from the squad for several months, playing with the reserve team and being loaned to Aston Villa in the second half of the 2024-2025 season, after being excluded by former manager Enzo Maresca.
Coach Rosenior, who took over on January 6, commented on the decision to reinstate Disasi, stating: "I had a very good discussion with him a few days ago. When I arrived, I told the players that everyone starts with a clean slate. So it was natural for me to speak with him. It was the right thing to do to bring him back into the group."
Rosenior added that Disasi is "behind in terms of his physical fitness," assuring that the club will work to help him catch up. In related news, Estêvão, Jaimie Gittens, and Malo Gusto have also returned to training, while Enzo Fernández's participation in Wednesday's Champions League match against Pafos remains doubtful due to illness.
