Cristiano Ronaldo Wins Case Against Juventus
Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo has concluded a lengthy legal dispute with his former club, Italian giants Juventus, after a court ruled in his favor. This means he will not be required to return the €9.7 million the club had paid him during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The dispute originated from a salary maneuver undertaken by Juventus during the pandemic, which involved freezing payments. Ronaldo, who later moved to Manchester United, did not collect an agreed-upon salary from that period, leading to the initiation of the legal case.
Four months ago, the court had issued an initial ruling in favor of the player, obliging Juventus to pay him approximately €10 million. The Italian club appealed this decision, demanding the return of the sum. However, the Turin Labor Court once again upheld the Portuguese player's position, confirming that he does not owe the club any money. The court also ordered Juventus to pay €80,000 in appeal fees.
It remains unclear whether Juventus will file another appeal against this final ruling.
