CAF Responds to Senegal's Complaint: 'All Teams Met Same Conditions Before AFCON Final'
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has issued an official statement affirming its full commitment to the principles of integrity, transparency, and strict adherence to the Confederation's regulations, as part of the ongoing preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations "Morocco 2025" final.
CAF's statement came in response to a complaint from the Senegalese Football Federation regarding organizational issues faced by the "Teranga Lions" delegation before their match against Morocco in the Africa Cup of Nations final.
The statement clarified that CAF, in constant coordination with the Local Organizing Committee, has ensured since the start of the tournament that all participating teams are provided with the same conditions, without any discrimination, whether concerning accommodation, training, or various logistical aspects.
In its response to the Senegalese Football Federation regarding certain organizational arrangements before the final match, CAF affirmed that the Senegalese team was given the full right to choose its accommodation, and this request was met in accordance with approved procedures.
The statement added that after the Senegalese side expressed dissatisfaction with their allocated training ground, immediate contact was made with the Local Organizing Committee to provide an alternative pitch. This issue was resolved quickly, ensuring the team's comfort and the continuation of their preparations under suitable conditions.
CAF further stated that the Senegalese Federation received its rightful share of tickets for the final match. Continuous coordination and communication also took place between the President of the Senegalese Federation, Abdoulaye Fall, and officials from CAF and the Organizing Committee, reflecting a spirit of cooperation and shared responsibility.
The statement concluded with CAF wishing both the Moroccan and Senegalese teams success in the final match, which is expected to attract a wide audience in over 180 countries worldwide, in a football celebration that reflects the standing of African football on the international stage.
It is worth noting that the Africa Cup of Nations final will take place tomorrow, Sunday, between the Moroccan and Senegalese national teams at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, starting at 8:00 PM (GMT+1).
