Endrick Joins Olympique Lyon on Loan from Real Madrid
French club Olympique Lyon announced on December 23 the signing of 19-year-old Brazilian international striker Endrick on loan from Real Madrid until the end of the season. The player is seeking more playing time through this move, having featured for only 11 minutes in La Liga since his arrival at Real Madrid in 2024, with the aim of securing a place in his national team squad for the 2026 World Cup. Endrick, a left-sided forward, has 14 international appearances and three goals for the Brazilian national team.
The loan deal includes a maximum fee of one million euros, structured to allow Lyon to pay 200,000 euros less for every five matches Endrick participates in, meaning no fee will be paid if he plays 25 matches. The player began training with the team this week.
In this regard, Olympique Lyon coach Paulo Fonseca stated on Friday: "His adaptation is going very well. He started training this week. He is a different player, we needed him. The whole group welcomed him well. I spoke with him, and he is very satisfied, and so are we to have a player of this quality."
Mathieu Louis-Jean, an Olympique Lyon official, also confirmed during Endrick's official presentation that the player is ready to participate in the upcoming French Cup Round of 16 match against Lille next Sunday, adding: "We will give him some time; the adaptation has been very quick, and he is already doing well with his teammates. He was not eligible for the last match, but he will be available for the next French Cup match."
