
Tanzanian Government Awards $204,000 Bonus to National Team Players Ahead of AFCON Clash with Morocco
The government of the Republic of Tanzania has announced a significant financial bonus for the national football team players, following their successful qualification for the round of 16 at the Africa Cup of Nations, held in Morocco.
According to an official statement, Tanzanian authorities, led by President Samia Suluhu Hassan, decided to award the "Taifa Stars" players a grant of 500 million Tanzanian shillings (approximately $201,822 USD).
This comes in recognition of the team's performance during the group stage and acknowledges the positive progress the national team has made in the continental tournament, ahead of their match against the Moroccan national team.
Tanzanian Prime Minister Dr. Majigulo Nchemba, during his meeting with the players and technical staff, and in the presence of Deputy Minister of Information, Culture, Arts, and Sports Paul Makonda, affirmed that President Samia Suluhu Hassan is proud of the team's achievements so far.
The President extended her congratulations to the players, the technical team, and all Tanzanian citizens. She also emphasized the government's continued support for the "Taifa Stars" in future competitions.
The same source indicated that the President promised additional rewards should the national team continue to excel and succeed in reaching the quarter-finals of the tournament, which is being held on Moroccan soil.
The Moroccan national team will face their Tanzanian counterparts on Sunday at Prince Moulay Abdellah Complex in Rabat, in a match scheduled to kick off at 5:00 PM.
