Mane: Sudan's Goal Was a Surprise and a Punishment
Senegal international Sadio Mane discussed his team's surprise at Sudan's opening goal, emphasizing that all Africa Cup of Nations matches are challenging.
The Senegalese national team had secured their spot in the Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finals after defeating Sudan 3-1. The match took place at the Grand Stade de Tanger as part of the continental tournament's round of 16.
Speaking to beIN Sports after the game, Mane stated: "From the start of the match, we were surprised by Sudan's first goal, and it felt like a punishment for us. However, we came back and scored three goals, and our reaction was good."
He added: "We have qualified for the quarter-finals, and the next encounter will not be easy, as all Africa Cup of Nations games are difficult. We will take some rest, then prepare well for the upcoming match."
Senegal will face the winner of the ongoing Mali vs. Tunisia match, held at Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca, in the quarter-finals.
