AFCON 2025: Koulibaly Suspended for One Match After Red Card Against Benin
Kalidou Koulibaly, captain of the Senegal national team, has received a one-match suspension after being shown a red card during his team's 3-0 victory over Benin in the Africa Cup of Nations group stage.
Senegal coach Pape Thiaw announced the sanction, which resulted from a strong challenge by Koulibaly on Lorient player Aiyegun Tosin.
The 34-year-old defender, who has earned 100 international caps, will miss Senegal's Round of 16 match against Sudan on Saturday.
Koulibaly will be available for a potential quarter-final match, should the 2022 African champions qualify. They finished the group stage atop Group D and could face Mali or Tunisia in the quarter-finals.
