Fenerbahçe President Released Amid Cocaine Probe
Fenerbahçe President Sadettin Saran was conditionally released on Thursday, one day after being detained in Turkey on suspicion of drug use. His detention was part of a wide-ranging operation investigating cocaine use allegations involving multiple public figures.
Prosecutors maintained three charges against Saran: drug use, providing drugs to others, and facilitating drug use. While a hair follicle test showed a positive result, blood, urine, and nail samples were negative.
Saran vehemently denied using cocaine, asserting that the allegations were a smear campaign against him and the club. Fenerbahçe's management expressed its full support for Saran.
As a condition of his release, Saran is required to report regularly to the police and faces a travel ban.
