Aubameyang Injury Rules Him Out of Gabon's Africa Cup Opener Against Cameroon

The Gabonese Football Federation has officially announced that striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will miss his country's opening match against Cameroon in the group stage of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The federation clarified that Aubameyang sustained a left hamstring injury during his club's match against Monaco in the 16th round of the French League.

Aubameyang is currently undergoing treatment in Marseille to recover from the injury. The Gabonese Football Federation confirmed that the striker's participation in the second match against Mozambique will depend on the evolution of his condition and the results of medical examinations.

Gabon is placed in Group F, alongside Mozambique and Ivory Coast. The Africa Cup of Nations is scheduled to commence next Sunday.
