Chamakh: "I Wish Algeria an Excellent AFCON Run, But I Want to Beat Them... Off the Pitch, We're Like Family"
Former Moroccan international Marouane Chamakh hopes to defeat Algeria should the two teams meet in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, while simultaneously expressing his wish for "The Greens" (Algeria) to have an excellent tournament run.
Speaking in an interview on the "KAMPO" podcast, Chamakh said: "I wish Algeria an excellent run in the Africa Cup of Nations, but honestly, we want to beat you, whether it's in the quarter-finals or the semi-finals."
He continued: "This rivalry should remain between us, and the challenge should persist as long as it's within the framework of football."
He added: "Outside of football, in Europe, as a community, we get along very well, we intermarry, and share the same food. When we don't let things get out of hand, we can be brothers."
