Scotland Coach Clark Recalls '98 World Cup: "Great Draw, Morocco and Brazil Clash Has a Touch of Destiny"
Steve Clarke, head coach of the Scottish national team, expressed his significant satisfaction with the draw for the 2026 World Cup, affirming that the upcoming matches for his team will be rich in challenge and excitement.
Speaking to the BBC, Clarke stated: "Honestly, I think this is a great draw. What I like most is that we will face teams from three different continents, and that represents the true magic of the World Cup."
He added: "When we look back, specifically to 1998, we find that Brazil and Morocco were also in the same group with us. There's a touch of destiny in this repetition."
Clarke continued: "Haiti, even though they came from the last pot, are not an easy opponent. They won their qualifying group deservedly, and that proves their worth." He concluded: "We also deserved to be in this tournament. Now we have to prepare well, respect all our opponents, and strive to represent Scotland in the best possible way on the world stage."
It is worth noting that the Moroccan national team was drawn into Group C of the 2026 World Cup alongside Brazil, Haiti, and Scotland.
