
Palmeiras Fan Dies Hours Before Copa Libertadores Final!
Hours before the kick-off of the 2025 Copa Libertadores final between Brazilian clubs Palmeiras and Flamengo, sadness overshadowed Brazilian fans following the announcement of a Palmeiras supporter's death in a tragic accident in Lima, the Peruvian capital.
The victim, Kauê Brunelli Dezoti, 38, a doctor and member of a Palmeiras fan association, was part of a group of supporters who had boarded an open-top tourist bus to tour the streets of Lima ahead of the match.
According to media reports, the fan fell from the upper deck of the bus after colliding with a low bridge over the road, suffering a severe fall in a shocking incident that occurred in the coastal area of Costa Verde.
Separately, the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) announced that the match kick-off had been delayed by 15 minutes. Originally scheduled for Saturday at 22:00 (GMT+1), it was pushed back to 22:15 (GMT+1) due to heavy traffic congestion in the Peruvian capital, Lima.
