El Zabiri: 'Spain Dominates Possession in Europe Like Morocco in Africa; Our Similar Style Explains Moroccan Players' La Liga Success'
Yasser El Zabiri, a player for the Moroccan U20 national team, discussed the similarities between Moroccan and Spanish football during an interview with the newspaper "AS."
El Zabiri stated: "If we compare Morocco to other African national teams, we represent what Spain represents in Europe. Spain dominates possession in Europe, and Morocco does the same in Africa." He added: "We have a very similar playing style, and this also explains why Moroccan players succeed in the Spanish league. The climate and cultural proximity also play an important role. There are many Moroccans living in Spain, and if you master the language, adaptation is almost guaranteed."
Regarding whether he follows Moroccan players in La Liga, such as Abde Ezzalzouli or Brahim Díaz, El Zabiri clarified: "All Moroccan players active in the Spanish league are performing at very high levels with their teams."
He continued: "Abde is scoring, and Ounahi as well; even though he is a midfielder, he has scored two goals with Girona. Moroccan players are excelling in all top five major leagues thanks to their great ability to adapt. Wherever I am placed, I will play and adapt."
