Laporta: "I Was Happy to See Messi at Camp Nou Again, But We Didn't Know He Was Coming"
Barcelona president Joan Laporta commented on Lionel Messi's recent visit to Camp Nou and the possibility of the Argentine player returning to the Catalan club.
Speaking to "Catalunya Radio," Laporta said: "I was happy to see Messi at Camp Nou again, but no, we didn't know he was coming. We love him; this is his home, and he knows that." He added: "I believe he deserves the most beautiful tribute in history. Out of respect for Messi, for our players, and for our members, this is not the time to speculate about unrealistic scenarios."
Laporta also addressed Messi's departure in 2021, stating: "Despite the circumstances of Messi's departure, I regret nothing. Barcelona is above everything. It wasn't what we all wished for, but it wasn't possible at the time."
He concluded by discussing the Camp Nou renovations: "The renovation work at Camp Nou is progressing very well. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the third tier stands will be ready by the start of next season, as will the VIP boxes, which are essential for refinancing the stadium. We will play at Camp Nou as soon as possible, as the stadium is now ready to host 27,000 spectators."
