Cancelo: 'I Can't Confirm Saudi League is Among Top Five'

Al-Hilal player João Cancelo stated that he cannot definitively say whether the Saudi League is considered among the best leagues in the world, while acknowledging that it is developing over time.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of Portugal's World Cup qualifier against Ireland, Cancelo commented on the Saudi League, saying: "Regarding the goals scored by players active in the Saudi League, this is a positive indicator. It shows that the level of quality here is developing over time."

He added: "What I feel is that the level has improved significantly since last year, and I believe this is the country's objective: to develop the league year after year, and they have all the ingredients to achieve that."

Cancelo continued: "As for whether the Saudi League is among the strongest in the world, I cannot confirm that, as I haven't played in Ligue 1 yet. However, I believe the Premier League is still the strongest in the world, and La Liga is also very close to that level, while Serie A has started to regain its previous standard."

He concluded: "Regarding other leagues, I cannot give a definitive opinion. I have also played in the German league, which is very strong. Has the Saudi League become one of the top five? I cannot confirm that, but what I do know is that its level improves every year because more quality players are constantly joining it."
