Major League Soccer (MLS) has announced a one-match suspension for Inter Miami forward Luis Suarez, ruling him out of a crucial second-round playoff match. The suspension comes as a result of Suarez kicking Nashville defender Andy Najar with his heel during the second leg match last Saturday.

Luis Suarez, who is approaching his 39th birthday, continues his football career but has a history of unsportsmanlike conduct against opponents. In the second leg of the playoff against Nashville last Saturday, a match Inter Miami had won 3-1 in the first leg, the Uruguayan striker committed a violent foul against right-back Andy Najar in the 71st minute.

With Inter Miami trailing 2-0, Suarez reacted after being pushed by Najar inside the penalty area, delivering a kick with his heel from behind towards a sensitive area of the Honduran defender, causing him to fall. Despite demands for a card from Nashville players, who ultimately won the match 2-1, the referee did not whistle for a foul or penalize the former Barcelona striker.

The MLS Disciplinary Committee reviewed the incident, and as a result, Luis Suarez has been suspended for the crucial match scheduled for Saturday night into Sunday morning at 2 AM (GMT+1) at Inter Miami's stadium. The suspension is due to "violent conduct," and he has also been issued an an undisclosed fine.

It is worth noting that MLS had previously suspended Suarez for three matches last September after he spat on a Seattle Sounders staff member following the Leagues Cup final on August 31. This incident also resulted in a six-match ban for him in future editions of that competition.
