Barcelona 'Rescued' in Thrilling Champions League Draw Against Club Brugge
Barcelona stumbled on Wednesday evening, drawing 3-3 against their Belgian hosts Club Brugge in a thrilling encounter at Jan Breydel Stadium. The match was part of the fourth round of the UEFA Champions League group stage.
The match began with an explosive start. Nicolo Tresoldi opened the scoring for Club Brugge in the 6th minute, beating Wojciech Szczesny. Just two minutes later, Ferran Torres responded with an equalizer for Barcelona in the 8th minute. However, Club Brugge regained the lead through Carlos Forbes in the 17th minute, sending the hosts into halftime with a 2-1 advantage.
In the second half, rising star Lamine Yamal leveled the score for Barcelona in the 61st minute with a brilliant individual effort. Club Brugge, however, quickly restored their lead when Forbes scored his second goal in the 63rd minute. The seesaw battle continued as Christos Tzolis inadvertently gifted Barcelona an equalizer in the 77th minute, turning a ball from Yamal into his own net.
In the 90th minute, goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny committed a grave error when he attempted to dribble past Romeo Vermant. Vermant dispossessed him and put the ball into the net, but the referee consulted VAR and subsequently disallowed the goal, citing a foul on Szczesny.
