Talbi: 'We Must Do the Impossible to Win AFCON,' Praises Regragui's Paternal Role
Shamseddine Talbi, the English Sunderland player, affirmed that the Moroccan national team is entering a crucial phase in the coming months, with the anticipated participation in the Africa Cup of Nations, which the Kingdom will host, alongside preparations for the 2026 World Cup.
In an interview with "Canal + Afrique," Talbi stated: "We are now facing major challenges, the Africa Cup and the World Cup, especially the 'CAN' (AFCON) which will be held in our country. We must do the impossible to win it, even though the task will not be easy."
Talbi also praised coach Walid Regragui, considering him a paternal figure within the squad. "Regragui is like a father and is deeply involved in his work; his instructions are always delivered with passion and are never trivial," Talbi remarked. He added: "He (Regragui) often tries to motivate us through videos that show the passion of the fans and the aspirations of the Moroccan people, and even scenes of elderly people attending the stadium with great joy. He always seeks to boost our energy and enthusiasm."
It is worth noting that the Africa Cup of Nations finals, which the Kingdom of Morocco will host, are scheduled to take place between December 21, 2025, and January 18, 2026.
