Lucas Moura Undergoes Successful Achilles Surgery, Out Until 2027
Brazilian club São Paulo announced that their player Lucas Moura underwent successful surgery on his right Achilles tendon following a serious injury sustained during his team's match against Bahia last Sunday evening. The club stated in an official announcement that the surgical intervention took place on Monday morning at Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein, where a medical team led by Dr. Moisés Cohen oversaw the procedure to repair the complete rupture suffered by the player.
The club reported in its statement that the surgery was successful. São Paulo said: "Attacking midfielder Lucas underwent surgery this Monday morning at Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein to repair a complete rupture of the Achilles tendon in his right leg. The operation, performed by Dr. Moisés Cohen's team, went well, and the player is expected to be discharged from the hospital on Tuesday, the 5th, to remain at home resting before beginning rehabilitation." The 33-year-old star is expected to be sidelined for a long period, potentially extending until early 2027.
This injury reshapes the former Paris Saint-Germain player's future with the team, especially given that Moura's current contract expires in December 2026. The injury occurred during a Brazilian league match held at the Cícero de Souza Marques Stadium, marking the beginning of a recovery and preparation phase for a return that could extend beyond his current contract with the club.
