Tebas Confirms Semi-Automatic Offside Technology for La Liga Next Season
Javier Tebas, president of La Liga, has announced the adoption of semi-automatic offside technology in both the first and second divisions starting next season. This move aims to enhance the accuracy of refereeing decisions and reduce the time associated with reviewing controversial incidents.
The new technology relies on a network of advanced cameras and sensors that assist referees in accurately determining offside positions. The system is scheduled to be implemented from the first matchday of the competition, as part of the league's efforts to develop technological infrastructure in Spanish football stadiums.
Tebas revealed during a conference organized by the league in Madrid that the project is currently under actual implementation. He stated, "It is already underway, as it now depends on some technical matters, but it will be available next season, and I hope it will come into effect from the first matchday." He added that technological aspects are determining the final touches of the project before its official launch.
This announcement came during the league president's participation in a seminar at the headquarters of the Centre for Higher National Defence Studies in Madrid. The event addressed issues of geopolitics and sports, providing a platform to announce this anticipated technical update to the Spanish refereeing system.
