Neto Pushes Ball Boy During PSG Match, Apologizes with Shirt Gift
The final minutes of the UEFA Champions League clash between English side Chelsea and hosts Paris Saint-Germain witnessed an incident where London team winger Pedro Neto pushed a ball boy in the chest during injury time.
The incident occurred as Neto was attempting to quickly retrieve the ball to resume play in the match, which his team ultimately lost 5-2 in the first leg of the continental tournament's Round of 16.
The ball boy fell backward towards the advertising hoardings as a result of the push from Neto, as it appeared the boy was attempting to hold onto the ball and prevent a quick restart of play.
Despite the fall, the boy did not sustain any apparent injuries and appeared unharmed after the incident. The match referee did not issue any cards or take disciplinary action against the player for his conduct.
Following the incident, Paris Saint-Germain players moved to calm and console the ball boy, while also directing words of admonishment towards the Chelsea winger.
Neto later apologized to the boy and gifted him his shirt after the match concluded.
