Ligue 1 Announces Postponement of Paris Saint-Germain vs. Nantes Match
The French Professional Football League (LFP) has announced the rescheduling of the Ligue 1 match between Paris Saint-Germain and Nantes. The fixture, originally set to take place between March 13 and 15, has been moved to the week commencing April 20.
The LFP approved an official request from Paris Saint-Germain's management, aiming to provide the team's players with sufficient rest and recovery time between their two UEFA Champions League Round of 16 matches against English side Chelsea. The Parisian club's proposal received full agreement from Nantes' management, who accepted the change to ensure the best possible conditions for competition.
Nantes coach Ahmed Kantari commented on the decision, emphasizing the need to adapt to new developments. Kantari stated, "We would certainly have preferred to play next week, but I believe our profession is based on adaptation." The coach also questioned whether his club's management truly had the option to refuse the decision, adding, "Do we really have a choice, and did we have a choice last year?" This was in reference to a similar incident during the 2024-2025 season when a match between the two teams was also postponed.
This move comes as Nantes currently sits in 17th place in the Ligue 1 standings, facing complex tactical considerations due to the anticipated fixture congestion in April. Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain, nicknamed the champions of Europe, is focusing on improving their chances of overcoming Chelsea by securing longer recovery periods for their players between major continental clashes.
